WOE v2.0
December 26th, 2012
*Yaaaaaaawn* Well, that’s been a nice hibernation. So what’s going on in 2010? Wait, it’s almost 2013 you say? Oh jeez, I guess I should have set my alarm.
Here’s the deal: making movies and animations is hard. I love doing it and hope to do more in the future, but I just haven’t been finding time to make it happen. And I don’t see that changing any time real soon.
That led me to reevaluate what to do with White of Eye. Initially I was envisioning WOE as a place to showcase my (clearly) masterful works of video genius, but that has caused me to abandon the site. So I’ve decided to change things up.
I’ve gotten into the habit of doodling in little notepads on a mostly daily basis. A lot of these doodles are pretty cool. I call them “coffee doodles” because I generally create them during my morning coffee break from work. I also have a whiteboard in my apartment where I draw temporary pieces and some of these are pretty awesome, too.
So between the coffee doodles and the drawing board, I think I actually have interesting things that I can be posting regularly. These will become the new staples of WOE v2.0. Oh yes, there will still be the occasional animation, documentary, sculpture, quirky Portland photo, etc., but the bread and butter of WOE will be the doodling. And I’m pretty excited about this. For a sampling of what’s to come, check out Parachute Copter, Divine Contact or (a personal favorite) Barfing Flower.
You might notice that I have a new site design, too. I wanted a site that was more mobile-friendly and that I can reskin with different themes. Bam, done! Feel free to enjoy this site on your mobile doohickey from now on, and depending on the day, you will see one of the two skins I’ve developed so far (more in the works).
So here’s to a 2013 filled with wonder and weirdness! Cheers from White of Eye to you!
